HUIZHOU INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD.’S RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE OF GEL ICE PACKS

Background of the project

As the global demand for cold chain logistics continues to increase, especially in the food and pharmaceutical industries, the demand for temperature-controlled packaging materials is also increasing. As a leading research and development company in cold chain transportation, Huizhou Industrial Co., Ltd. is committed to providing efficient, safe and reliable cold chain solutions. We received a request from an international food delivery customer who wanted to develop an environmentally friendly gel ice pack that could maintain low temperatures for a long time and be used to transport fresh food over long distances.

Advice to customers 

After receiving the customer’s needs, we first conducted a detailed analysis of the customer’s transportation routes, transportation time, temperature requirements and environmental protection standards. Based on the analysis results, we recommend the development of a new gel ice pack with features including:

1. Long-term cooling: It can maintain low temperature for up to 48 hours, ensuring the freshness of food during transportation.

2. Environmentally friendly materials: Made of degradable materials, they comply with international environmental standards and reduce the impact on the environment.

3. Economical and applicable: On the premise of ensuring performance, control production costs to make it market competitive.

Our company’s research and development process 

1. Demand analysis and solution design: In the early stage of the project, our R&D team analyzed customer needs in detail, conducted many discussions and brainstorming, and determined the technical solution for the gel ice pack.

2. Selection of raw materials: After extensive market research and laboratory testing, we selected several materials with excellent cooling effects and environmentally friendly properties as the main ingredients of the gel ice pack.

3. Sample production and testing: We produced multiple batches of samples and conducted rigorous testing under simulated actual transportation conditions. The test content includes cooling effect, cold retention time, material stability and environmental performance.

4. Optimization and improvement: Based on the test results, we continue to optimize the formula and process, and finally determine the best gel ice pack formula and production process.

5. Small-scale trial production: We conducted a small-scale trial production, invited customers to conduct preliminary use tests, and collected customer feedback for further improvements.

Final product 

After many rounds of R&D and testing, we have successfully developed a gel ice pack with excellent performance. This ice pack has the following features:

1. Excellent cooling effect: It can maintain low temperature for up to 48 hours, ensuring the freshness of food during transportation.

2. Environmentally friendly materials: Made of degradable materials, they will not cause pollution to the environment after use.

3. Safe and reliable: It has passed strict safety testing and quality certification and complies with international transportation standards.

Test Results 

In the final testing phase, we applied the gel ice packs in actual transportation and the results showed:

1. Long-lasting cooling effect: During the 48-hour transportation process, the temperature inside the ice pack always remains within the set range, and the food remains fresh.

2. Environmentally friendly materials: The ice pack can be completely degraded within 6 months in the natural environment, complying with the customer’s environmental protection requirements.

3. Customer satisfaction: The customer is very satisfied with the cooling effect and environmental performance of the ice pack, and plans to fully promote its use in its global transportation network.
