On October 12, the first cold chain freight train of the year carrying 514 tons of Korla fragrant pears departed from Kuqa Station, marking a significant milestone in Xinjiang’s modern agricultural logistics. This train, headed for Hunan, will distribute the pears across nearby regions and export them to countries like Thailand and Vietnam via the China-Laos railway.

Boosting Specialty Agriculture with Cold Chain Logistics

The Korla fragrant pear harvest is in full swing, and rapid delivery of fresh produce is essential to meet consumer demand. The Kashgar Freight Center of China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd. has implemented strict oversight for ticketing, inspections, and loading processes, ensuring seamless transport. Special cold chain containers and real-time temperature monitoring throughout the journey guarantee the fruit’s quality.

Expanding Fresh Produce Reach

Since early 2023, Xinjiang’s railway department has enhanced collaboration with local governments and logistics companies to boost cold chain capabilities for fresh fruit. Customized transport solutions have supported the shipment of 2,140 tons of fresh produce, including plums and grapes, to markets nationwide.

Li Cheng, Party Secretary of the Kashgar Freight Center, stated, “We’ve transported over 112,700 tons of agricultural products, including walnuts, apple juice, and fruit jam, domestically and internationally, driving the growth of Xinjiang’s high-quality specialty agriculture.”
